Rene II of Lorraine
Rene of Lorraine , born the May 2nd 1451, dead the December 10th 1508, was wire of Ferry {{Romanian-maj|II|2}} of Vaudémont and Yolande of Anjou. It was:

- duke of Lorraine of 1473 with 1508. His/her mother had entrusted to him as soon as she had inherited it her nephew Nicolas of Lorraine
- lord de Joinville of 1476 with 1508. He had inherited it his brother.
- duke of Bar of 1480 with 1508. His/her mother had entrusted to him as soon as she had inherited it her father Rene of Anjou.
- baron de Mayenne of 1481 with 1508. He had inherited it his cousin.
Biography
He passed his youth to the court of his grandfather Rene of Anjou, between Angers and Provence, succeeds his father in 1470 in Vaudémont, then inherits beginning 1473 his uncle of the loads of captain of Angers and seneshal and governor of Anjou.In 1473, it succeeds his/her cousin the duke Nicolas of Lorraine and is with the head of a duchy taken in the fights of influence between Louis {{Romanian-maj|XI|11}}, king de France and Charles Bold the, duke of Burgundy. He leans initially towards the Burgundian one, but like this last starting to place garrisons to Lorraine, Rene secretly joins king de France the July 9th 1474 and denounces his Burgundian alliance in 1475. Charles the Bold one invades the duchy and Rene must flee of Nancy on January 11th 1476, Rene takes again the city the October 5th same year, Suisse will seek reinforcements in which determine the final defeat of the duke of Burgundy in front of Nancy the January 5th 1477. Following this victory, it orders the construction of gigantic the Basilique of Saint-Nicolas-of-Port and rebuilt the Ducal Palais of Nancy.
Thereafter, Rene scrambles himself with Louis {{Romanian-maj|XI|11}}, because this one had put the hand on the whole of the heritage of Rene Ier in 1481, leaving him only the Duché of Bar. It goes down to Italy and beats the duke of Ferrare with Adria, while being combined with the Venetian ones.
In 1485, it takes share with the first phase of the insane Guerre, but prudently withdraws coalition of the princes as of the Paix of Bourges, the same year.
In 1488, the subjects of the king de Naples revolt and offer the crown to Rene, who assembles a forwarding to take possession of the kingdom, but the king Charles {{Romanian-maj|VIII|8}} prohibits to him, wanting itself to make the conquest of it (beginning of the Guerres of Italy).
Rene took cold during a hunting close to Fains and dies on December 10th, 1508.
Marriage and children
Rene initially married with Angers the September 9th 1471 Jeanne d' Harcourt, countess of Tancarville († 1488), girl of Guillaume d' Harcourt, count de Tancarville, Viscount of Melun, and Yolande of Laval. When in 1485, it became obvious that she could not have children, Rene repudiated it.He remarie with Orleans on September 1st 1485 with Philippe de Gueldre (1467 † 1547), and had:

Descent
By his Antoine son he is the dynastic ancestor by male order of primogeniture of current Maison of Habsbourg-Lorraine, following the marriage of his descendant to the 9th generation François-Etienne, duke of Germanic Lorraine Empereur, with the Marie-Therese Archduchess, Reine of Hungary and Bohemia. He is also the ancestor of the same House by his Claude son by the secondary branches.
Its descent is also found in all in all the other sovereign houses of Europe.
