Rene Gutman
Rene Gutman (born in Rouen in 1950) is Large-Rabbi of Strasbourg and the the Low-Rhine since November 1987.
Biography
After his secondary studies in Rouen, where his/her father was itself rabbi, Rene Gutman starts several years of religious studies in Israel, with the yeshiva of Tifra' H, in Negev, then with " 'Hevron" , in Jerusalem. Of return in France, it is allowed with the Seminar Jew from France to Paris. After its formation, it will have been successively Rabbin towns of Rheims, Besancon, then Large-Rabbi of Brussels and finally of the Community Jew of Strasbourg and the Low-Rhine, while succeeding the Warschawski Chief rabbi.
Doctor of religious sciences of the Practical School of the High Studies, he is also permanent member of the Office of the Conference of the European Rabbis and takes an active part in the oecumenical dialog, inter alia within the framework of the organization Homme of words joining together Imam S and rabbis of the whole world. Also acts for a dialog going beyond the Religions of the Book and carried out meetings with religious representatives of the Far East. He was member of the National council of the AIDS.
The French Republic recognized its action by naming it Chevalier in the National order of the Legion of Honor, then as Officier in that of the Merit.
