Rene Grandjean (November 12th, 1884 with Bellerive - April 14th, 1963 with Lausanne) is a manufacturer of Avion S and pilot Suisse

Childhood

Wire of one of the secretaries of the baron Adolphe de Rothschild, it was born on November 12th 1884. In 1890, its family goes to Paris before turning over in Suisse in 1896 oú his/her father makes build a mill and a large sawmill.

First steps in the working life

In 1902, at 18 years, it leaves to Paris where it works as a driver at the marquis de Montebello. Then in 1904, it turns over to Switzerland in order to carry out its military service before becoming, one year later, the driver of the “sultan Omar BEY”

Aviation

It launches out then in aviation by building itself its own plane which was flown the first time by Ernest Failloubaz. It will also control it itself but will demolish it.

  • 14 September 21st 1910: meeting with Viry (demolished Grandjean plane)
  • 8 October 10th: Meeting of Bern
  • October 12th, 1910: interdict on the place of fine Avenches => of collaboration with Failloubaz
  • Dübendorf: Construction of the 1st plane with Swiss engine
  • December 4th, 1911: Price of aviation of the Car-Club of Switzerland
  • 4 February 20th, 1912: The first “plane with skis” of the world
  • September 4th, 1912: Price Eynard Villeneuve-Geneva on seaplane
  • 1914: it belongs to the 12 pilots mobilized in Bern, it enters in service with the apparatus which it built
