Rene Crabos
Rene Crabos (known as Genius of Rugby in Great Britain, or even Napoleon quite front Jacques Fouroux, because of its talents of strategist and born leader) (born the February 7th 1899 with Saint-Sever - deceased the June 17th 1964 with the same place) is a player of Rugby to XV French, of 1 m 67 per 68 kg, enough fire-rake, evolving/moving at the station of center three-quarter.
Rene Crabos began in the team from the Boutons from Gold from the college Victor Duruy from Mount-with-Marsan, then exerted his talents at his place in Saint-Sever, before leaving to Dax, then with Tarbes. He created the team of the ASCAS (Sports association of the Drivers of Cars of Santonay) to which took part Adolphe Jauréguy before the Guerre of 1914-1918. In 1918, it is with the Battalion of Joinville with the elite of the French sport. He became then captain of the Racing club of France, before going back to Saint-Sever.
Crabos was a large theorist of the play, inventor in particular of the slipped defense , immediately putting its ideas in practice on the ground, thanks to its irreproachable technique, which was worth a great prestige in the United Kingdom to him. The large defects of play of the hexagonal Rugby of the Twenties ' were thus gradually corrected mainly according to its observations and its practical solutions. Jauréguy said moreover of him that it had a great hit of belly on 20 meters . Associated with François Borders, Crabos and Jauréguy formed a trio of legend thus, in national selection, in Tarbes and Racing.
Its high level career stopped in 1924, following a fracture of the leg with Dublin.
It was post-war period the manager of the team of France at the time of the three Argentinas rounds of 1949 (with its Jauréguy ex-partner, for the first French round abroad), 1954 and 1960, follower then of the online game; then became an influential president of FFR of 1952 to 1962. One owes thus him the return of Lucien Mias in the team of France in 1958, and the selection of the totality of the Lourdian line of three-quarter the same year, for a victory without call in the tournament of V nations. Its respectability near the British was an enormous asset at the time of its presidency.
It traded in the industry of the feather and the sleeping bag.
The championship junior bears his name, in homage to its eternal direction of the search for perfection as of the execution of the gestures (Coupe Rene Crabos, created in 1950).
He was also President of the federation to the beginning of the year 1960.
