Rene Capitant
Rene Marie Alphonse Charles Capitant , born the August 19th 1901 with the Mug (Isere) and deceased the May 23rd 1970 with Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine), wire of Henri Capitant, is a lawyer and a politician French.
Biography
Formation
Wire of the lawyer Henri Capitant (1865-1937), he is pupil with the Lycée Henri-Iv then with the Faculty of Law of Paris, where he obtains a doctorate and an aggregation in Right.He is named in 1930 at the university of Strasbourg. In the Years 1930, it militates within the Comité of vigilance of the intellectuals antifascists.
Second world war
Following the Call of June 18th, it contributes to the creation of the resistance movement Combat with Clermont-Ferrand. He becomes law professor at the university of Algiers in 1941. He is named police chief with the State education of the French Comité of the Release, then Minister for the State education of the Provisional government.
Release
With the Release he is elected appointed of 1945 to 1951. Gaulliste “of left”, he founds on January 20th, 1946 with Louis Vallon the Union gaullist.He is professor with the Faculty of Law of Paris in 1951, then he is named director of the House free-Japanese woman to Tokyo between 1957 and 1960. He is re-elected appointed of 1962 to 1968.
From of May 31st, 1968 it is Minister of Justice in the governments Pompidou and Couve of Murville. It gives its resignation after the departure of de Gaulle following the failure of the referendum of April 27th, 1969.
