Renault R23
The R23 is a F1 of the stable Renault, committed during the season 2003. Its pilots were Fernando Alonso and Jarno Trulli.
History
Second single-seater 100% Renault since the return of the French manufacturer in Formula 1, in 2002, R23 (and not R203 like would have liked founded it logic since a few seasons, to avoid naming of Renault as some Peugeot) is that which will allow the advent of the young Spanish wonder Fernando Alonso, high in the bosom of Flavio Briatore, and which joined the team like holder after one season of tests. He replaces Jenson Button, however author of a better season than Jarno Trulli. The main feature of this car is its engine with very open angle (111°) to make it possible to lower the center of gravity of the car. As of the first Grand Prix of the season, R23 are competitive and finish in the points, Trulli in front of Alonso. A race later, at the conclusion of the meeting of qualifications of the Grand Prix of Malaysia, the blue and yellow cars are in first line, Alonso in front of Trulli. The young Spaniard becomes youngest poleman of the history of F1. He finishes third of the race, gained by Kimi Räikkönen.
Some races later, the Alonso phenomenon becomes extensive since at his place, in Barcelona, it disputes until the end the victory with the Ferrari of Michael Schumacher, by finishing second. In Canada, it signs the best turn in race and finishes on the heels of the dominating Williams FW25 and Ferrari of Schumacher. Trulli is under the extinguisher and its position within the increasingly fragile team. Fortunately for the Italian, it is the first to be gone up on a podium, in Germany. But Alonso will strike to him a fatal blow at the time of the Grand Prix of Hungary, since, left the pole, it will dominate the race to sign the first victory in Grand Prix of Renault since its return, by taking a turn with Schumacher and Trulli. End of season will be more calm, Alonso being able to gain with Japan before its engine does not release, which causes a large anger of the Spaniard, putting it in difficulty within the French team.
This season remains for the French team that of the return to the outposts, and the blossoming of the wonder Fernando Alonso.
