Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres
Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres (sometimes shortened in RDDV ), born the March 13rd 1954 with Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine), is a man Politique French affiliated with the UMP. He was Minister for the Culture and Transport of 2004 with 2007.
Biography
Origins and family
Wire of Jacques Donnedieu de Vabres, Master of the requests of the Council of State, old General secretary of the government, and grandson of Henri Donnedieu de Vabres, French magistrate, judge with the Lawsuit of Nuremberg, it is originating in Nimes and the the Cevennes gardoises.Economic bachelor of science, graduate of the Institute of political studies of Paris, graduate in public administration of the National school of administration (promotion Voltaire, at the sides of Dominique de Villepin, François Holland and Ségolène Royal), it integrates the prefectoral body like Sous-préfet, then becomes principal private secretary of the Préfet of Indre-et-Loire and, successively, general secretary for the administration of the police force of the Région Centers (1980 - 1981), general secretary of the prefecture of the Alp-of-High-Provence (1981 - 1982) and sub-prefect of the district of Castle-Thierry (1982-1985).
Political career
Beginnings
It begins its political career in the shade from François Léotard, as an operations manager near this one with the ministry for the Culture (1987 - 1988), then as principal private secretary to the Republican party, of which it integrates in 1990 the political office, then becomes acting general of 1995 about it with 1997.From April 1993 at January 1995, he is operations manager near François Léotard, minister of state, Minister for Defense. For this reason it took part in the negotiation of a big contract signed on November 19th, 1994 by a company depending on the ministry, the Sofresa with the bearing Saudi Arabia on the sale by France of two anti-aircraft frigates (“Operation Sawari 2”). Of an amount of 19 billion francs, this contract would have generated important commissions called into question after the election of Jacques Chirac to the presidency of the Republic.
Of UDF in UMP
At the beginning of 1995, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres integrates the team of countryside of Edouard Balladur, then becomes principal private secretary to the UDF (1996 - 1998). Regional adviser of the Center (1986 - 2001), president of the UDF group and general reporter of the Budget and the Plan (1986 - 1993), he is the right-wing candidate to the municipal elections of Tours in March 2001, but is beaten by the mayor outgoing Socialiste, Jean Germain.At the time of the presidential campaign of 2002, it takes its distances with the president of the UDF Francois Bayrou and supports Jacques Chirac. Following the creation of UMP, it is with Philippe Douste-Blazy converted with the neogaullism. He is elected appointed the June 16th 2002, in the 1st district of Indre-et-Loire.
He becomes assistant general secretary of the UMP in 2002, then spokesperson in 2003.
Raffarin government
Named on May 7th 2002 deputy secretary with the European Businesses of the Government Jean-Pierre Raffarin (1), it is not renewed on June 16th 2002 in the Gouvernement Jean-Pierre Raffarin (2) because of its setting in examination in the business of the financing of the republican ex-Party.
Financing of the Republican party
On this file, he is then condemned for Money laundering the February 16th 2004 by the magistrates' court of Paris. On the other hand, no personal load nor sorrow of ineligibility weigh on Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres in his judgment by the Magistrates' court of Paris : in the capacity as principal private secretary of the president of the Republican party in 1996, he was indeed condemned to the payment of a simple fine of 15 000 euros with the Treasury to have taken part, on instruction of the president of the Republican party, in the operation of use of the " funds spéciaux" government for the financing of acquisition by the Republican party of its head office.
Ministry for the Culture and the Communication
It is named, the following year, Minister for the Culture and Transport in the Gouvernement Jean-Pierre Raffarin (3), station to which it is renewed on June 3rd, 2005, in the government of Dominique de Villepin.He inherits then his predecessor, Jean-Jacques Aillagon, the sulfurous file of the mode of insurance unemployment of the contract workers. It finally defended the ministerial budget, negotiating in particular near Dominique de Villepin, an emergency plan for the restoration of the historic buildings, and an annual equipment of 70 million euros.
After the street of Valois
At the time of the legislative elections of June 2007 it is represented in the first district of Indre-et-Loire but is beaten with the second turn by Jean-Patrick Gille (PS) which obtained 51,07% of the votes cast.
September 14th, 2007, in front of UMP tourangelle, he announces that he will lead the list of the presidential majority to the municipal elections of March 2008 while hoping to take again the town hall with the left, he could thus open his list with a representative of CGT and representing Modem of Francois Bayrou.
