Remomeix

Remomeix is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Geography

Remomeix occupies a broad and not very broken part of the valley of the Fave and with only 5 km in the east of the Saint-Dié-of-Vosges, selected according to these criteria to receive small a Aérodrome.

The borough developed along the old road of Strasbourg (D420) in the vicinity of the bridge of Fave. Of traditional architecture, the houses are established in discontinuous order, with variable passing compared to alignment. Recently, the urbanization was fixed in linear extension of the center, with the locality the Large Gravel pit , but the old hamlets, southernmost, Voivre , the Fisheries , Fontenys , Nolles , Voivrelle and Faing-Thierry see also new constructions.

History

Anecdote

In 1997, a business - relayed by the national press such as the Express train - made speak about the village. Indeed, the Témoins of Jéhovah wanted to buy the ground of an old sawmill at the time with the abandonment to establish their sixth regional center to with it. The installation did not pose too many problems to the town councilors, until those read a report/ratio written by the deputies. This report/ratio regarded the Witnesses of Jéhovah as a “apocalyptic sect”.

A reversal of situation took place then: the mayor, Maurice Bastien, strongly opposed the establishment, the inhabitants also. So 2000 followers (4 times local population) met in the village, which involved various legal procedures. Finally, the town hall of Remomeix obtained win in front of the administrative court of the Saint-Dié-of-Vosges.

Economy

Currently, the economy of the village rests primarily on the exploitation of forest (a sawmill is present in the commune), the breeding of Bovin S and the Marbrerie.

However, it should diversify in 2008 with the construction of a zone of activity of high technology on a surface of 53 Hectare S.
