Remain Chaos

The Demeure of the Chaos (sometimes shortened DDC ) is a property and a work of Contemporary art of Thierry Ehrmann, located at Saint-Romain-with-Mount-with Or with the accesses of Lyon. This work obtained a certain notoriety from the large-public, following the mediatization of the dissatisfaction with the residents, and of a legal battle aiming at restoring the residence in its original state.
Presentation
Extending on 12.000 m ², the Residence of Chaos to the appearance of a vast post-apocalyptic decoration, kind of No man' S Land military, where cotoyent themselves of many artistic installations: vestige of meteorite, helicopter crushed on the ground, calcined skeletons of cars, giant inscriptions painted on the walls, grounds and roofs, sculptures menaçantes of rusted scrap, vestiges of fires, beams and structures of concrete of Blockhouse…
This work appears in particular the scenes Média stoked Catastrophe, and events of topicality like the Attentats of September 11th, 2001 and the riots in the French suburbs.
This Residence of Chaos , initiated since 1999 per Thierry Ehrmann, gathers and integrates 2700 works of art, carried out by more than 70 artists, in a concept of perpetual creation compared with that of the Factory .
The Residence of Chaos is also the premises of the undertaking Groupe Waiter whose Thierry Ehrmann is president, and its subsidiary companies, of which ArtPrice.
Legal battle
The property is old a Relais of station of the 17th century of Saint-Romain-with-Mount-in Or, village with the old inheritance where the architectural modifications are subjected to the authorization of the Architecte of the buildings of France. Following the artistic interventions, the initial aspect of the residence was deeply modified: broken and calcined walls, ajonction of architectural elements, frontages painted with singular colors and reasons…
The non-observance of the rules of town planning, as well as the majority dissatisfaction with the inhabitants of the village, motivated the mayor of the village (Pierre Dumont) to carry felt sorry for near justice, in 2004.
The February 16th 2006, the court condemned Thierry Ehrmann to give his residence in state, under penalty of an obligation of 75 euros per day.
The parquet floor of Lyon and the town hall were provided in cassation.
This legal battle is not without pointing out the famous business Brancusi in the Twenties, where justice was confronted with the question of the statute of work of art.
