A relief cock is a device making it possible to decrease the pressure of a gas while letting escape the gas while exceeding.

The relief cock is part of a Pressostat.

On an Engine spark-ignition , the relief cock makes it possible to cause the shutdown without acting on the electrical circuit nor the food, but also to facilitate starting and making it possible to more easily cross compression, mainly on the cylinder motors only one.

In this case, the relief cock can be manual or automatic (coupled with the device of starting). obviously, in a case as in the other, it is necessary that compression is restored as soon as the hard point was crossed, under penalty of not being able to start.

A relief cock is a software which makes it possible to restore a file such as it was before its compression.
