The green residues are the lignocellulosic coming from the size and the maintenance of the Green areas, public and deprived vegetable remainders of , of the pruning of the Hedge S and Tree S of alignment.

The green residues are a component of the biomass.

They are made up:

  • on the one hand fermentable products, such as the Sheet S of the Tree S, faded flowers of the solid masses,
  • on the other hand woody products, such as branches of pruning and sizes of Hedge S.

The volume of these residues is important: in France, one estimates it at approximately 17 million m ³, that is to say 0,3 m ³ per capita and per annum.

The Economic agents confronted with the problem of the Gestion of the green residues are:

  • common (management of the forest properties, maintenance of the edges of road and green areas, residues of the private individuals…)
  • the horticulturists
  • the Landscape designer S

The current legislation imposes the management of the residues resulting from the production and consumption.
Les options to manage these green residues is the Incinération, the agricultural spreading of the recycled products and the Compostage. Nevertheless, surface available for spreading is not infinite. It is thus necessary that actions of dialog are carried out between the producers of Organic matter, in particular in the areas having weak surfaces of spreading. In France, the ministry for the Environnement fixes a maximum limit at the incineration in order to oblige the Local government agencies to increase the share of the Recyclage and composting.

The composting of the green residues can be carried out mixes some with Lisier or muds of purification of water for example.

For obtaining a Compost of good quality, it is essential that the green residues are correctly sorted, the bodies not compostables having been eliminated. In this optics, it is necessary to initiate the population with the sorting by publicity campaigns carried out in the Déchetterie S during the collections.

The recycling of the green residues concerns the Local development primarily.
