Reinach (Basle-Countryside)

Reinach is a common Switzerland canton of Basle-Countryside, located in the District of Arlesheim.

History

Located on the side on Bruderholz in the valley of the Birse, the area of Reinach is colonized at least since the medium of the Stone Age, as the tombs and the tools discovered at the time of archaeological excavations prove it. Other relics dating from the Bronze Age as of the Roman time were also updated.

The first written mention of the village, under the name of Rinacho comes from Ludwig Garewart, Prince-bishop of the Diocèse of Basle between 1164 and 1176. In 1194 the village belongs convent of Beinwil.

Losque the Canton of Basle joined the Confederation in 1501, Reinach remains like territory of évêché.
