Reiderland is a commune of the Netherlands, located in the province of Groningue. It counts 7 000 inhabitants, for a surface of 157 km ². The municipality is close to the Germany and the municipalities of Delfzijl, Scheemda, Winschoten and Bellingwedde. Reiderland is not an old municipality: it was creates in 1990, when there was the fusion of Finsterwolde and Nieuweschans with Beerta. The name of Beerta was changed into 1991 for that of Reiderland.
The Communist party was the main thing of the council, until the moment when the party started from itself. Afterwards, one founded a new Communist party to which belonged the two assistant ones of the mayor until in 1998 and an assistant since.
The commune is very rural and for this reason there is not many equipment, like department stores, but the town of Winschoten is near. In Nieuweschans, there is a small station, with a train per hour towards Groningen and some trains per day for Leer, in Germany.
