Reichssicherheitshauptamt
The RSHA or Reichssicherheitshauptamt (“central Office of the safety of Reich”) was an organization created by the Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler the September 22nd 1939 by the fusion of the SD , the Gestapo and the Kriminalpolizei to neutralize the “enemies of Reich” and, in particular, the “undesirable ones”.
Its first chief was the S Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich until his assassination the June 4th 1942, then the S Gruppenführer Ernst Kaltenbrunner until the end of the war.
The organization
He was organized in seven divisions ( Ämter ), plus the mobile groups Einsatzgruppen :
RSHA provided security forces, on request, to the chiefs of police force and to the S buildings.
