Reichskommissariat
Reichskommissariat is the German term which indicated an administrative sector of the “occupied Eastern territories” during the Second world war. According to the projection of the troops towards the East, the control of the territory was transferred from the soldiers towards the German administration.
It is the ideologist of the Nazi party Alfred Rosenberg which, before even the beginning of the Opération Barbarossa, had envisaged the cutting of the territory to be conquered. They were also under its supervision which occupied the station of Minister fur die besetzten Ostgebiete (German expression that one can translate by “Minister for Reich for the occupied territories of the East”).
Thus four Reichskommissariat will be created:
- the Reichskommissariat Ostland including/understanding the Baltic States and the Bielorussia.
- the Reichskommissariat Kaukasus with the zone around the mounts of the the Caucasus.
- the Reichskommissariat Moskau for the north of the European Russia. Created the July 17th 1941.
- the Reichskommissariat Ukraine for the Ukraine.
However, with the failure of the Operation Taïfun (aiming at the catch of Moscow), the Reichskommissariat Moskau was never really created.
