Regular clergy

The regular clergy is the part of the clergy which lives according to a rule. Those multiple and are varied. The first rules appear in IIIe century, in Christian Egypt. The first regular ones are Ermite S, then starting from saint Augustin, the rule defines the collective life.

From the 13th century, the regular religious orders multiply, but the majority of the rules from now on are inspired by medieval work. The Ordres beggars will take as a starting point Augustin saint, and the cistercians will take again the Règle of saint Benoît
