Animals concerned

Pets

Wild animals

Types of studbooks

Closed

In a studbook closed , the parents must also be recorded in the same register or another recognized register. That guaranteed that the individual is of pure line. The animals accepted by the studbook before its closing are known like the livestock of foundation. Then all the animals resulting from this studbook closed are downward livestock of foundation.

Opened

In an open studbook the animals can be recorded without their parents being them even recorded in a studbook. This makes it possible to the stockbreeders to reinforce certain lines, by adding individuals selected for certain characteristics of external appearance (dress, appearance, strength). A studbook of the open type is thus not adapted to the conservation of species in the process of disappearance.
