Three rivers feed the marshes, the Taute, the Vire and the Douve
The Marais of Cotentin were arranged at the 16th century thanks to large drainage works under the direction of the marshal of Bellefonds. It east is a question of building the doors with floods and the network of ditches allowing pasture of the animals. Thus, the fatty meadows are accessible per annum nine months.
