Located between Rouen and Le Havre, this park created on May 17th 1974 (old name: Regional natural park of Brotonne) extends on 80.000 hectares and relates to 72 communes + 2 Porte cities. It counts a great diversity of natural environments and a rich person historical heritage:
- marsh: marsh Sliding gauge, Natural reserve of the Small valley of the Fish pond
- forests: National forest of Brotonne, National forest of the Feature-Maulévrier, national forest of Roumare
- abbeys: Abbey of Jumièges, Abbey of Saint-Wandrille, Abbey of Saint-Georges-of-Boscherville
- craft industry: Baker's oven ($the Hague - of-Routot), House of the flax (Routot), museum of the Sabot-maker ($the Hague - of-Routot), the mill of stone (Hauville), Bee-keeping.
- castles: Castle of Ételan to Saint-Maurice-in Ételan, castle of the Yville-on-Seine
History
Formerly indicated under the name of
Regional natural park of Brotonne , the Regional natural park of the Loops of the Seine Norman was created on May 17th, 1974 around the National forest of Brotonne (the first studies go back to
1966). The objective was to create a green lung between
Paris and the industrial activities and harbor of the Basse-Seine. The name change took place on April 4th, 2001, following the various extensions of the PNR around the
the Seine and the acceptance of the new charter (2001-2011).
