Regional natural park of the Capes and Marais of Opal

The Regional natural park of the Capes and Marais of Opal is located in the north of the Département of the Pas-de-Calais and in the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais, between the towns of Calais, Saint-Omer, Boulogne-sur-Mer and Étaples. It constitutes one of the three regional natural parks of this area. It was born in March 2000 from the regrouping of the Parks of Bolted and Audomarois. The trade union mist which manages the park associates 152 communes of the Pas-de-Calais (to which 4 communes of départment North pertaining to the marsh audomarois united), 6 consular intercommunalities, 5 organizations, the department and the area.

Located in edge of one of the most attended seas sphere and in an area densément populated, the park has a natural heritage of a great diversity: littoral mediums (dunes, cliffs and estuaries), marsh and wetlands, forests, scrap-metals, lawns Calcicoles and moors.

The principal natural landscapes inside the park are:

  • the courses White-nosed monkey and Gray-Nose;
  • the valley of the Wimereux;
  • Mounts of Boulogne;
  • dunes of Écault with Dannes;
  • the high valley of the Race;
  • the scrap-metal of the buttonhole of the Bolted;
  • the valley of the Bléquin;
  • the Valley of Aquin;
  • the buttonhole of the country of Licques;
  • the valley of the Aa;
  • the Marsh audomarois;
  • moors of the country of Helfaut.
