Regional natural park Oise-Country of France

The regional natural park Oise-Country of France , created the 13 January 2004 per decree of the Prime Minister, extends on 59 communes from the department S and the Oise and the Val-d'Oise. It is the first interregional park of France (Areas Île-de-France and Picardy), the first Picardy regional natural park and 4th created in Île-de-France.

Description

The park covers a surface of 60.000 hectares including 20.000 hectares of forest, and gathers 44 communes of the Oise and 15 communes of the Val-d'Oise and concerns nearly 110.000 inhabitants.

The zone of the park is with dominant forest and agricultural (cereal field crop mainly). It integrates the 3 large main forests of Chantilly, Halatte and Ermenonville, which was worth its first name besides to him: “Regional natural park of the three forests”, famous with its creation in “Oise-Country of France”, marking its geographical position better linking the old man Country of France and the valley of the Oise. The park also integrates the historical cities of Chantilly and Senlis.

Contrary to the majority of the parks in France whose mission is to maintain a population while making live respectful activities of the environment, the purpose of the park Oise-Country of France is primarily to preserve an perish-urban territory, of a historical and architectural richness exceptional, threatened by the land pressure which had in the vicinity of Paris (less 30km) and airport in full expansion of Roissy Charles de Gaulle (with less 10km of the southern limits of the park).

The park was given, via its charter, the vital objective to control the evolution of its territory and to answer the following stakes:

  • To preserve and manage durably the natural heritage, cultural landscape and history of the territory.

  • To promote a respectful economic development of the environment and inheritance.

  • To develop natural tourism/culture controlled and to sensitize the public with the environment and the inheritance.

Abbeys of Royaumont, the Moncel and Chaalis, the field and the Castle of Chantilly, the old city of Senlis (safeguarded sector), the Park of Ermenonville (park Jean-Jacques Rousseau), the Sea of sand, the keep of Montépilloy, the castle of Raray

More than 100 classified sites or registered voters compose the inheritance of the park, for which it is necessary to add an important vernacular inheritance (laundrettes, etc).

In addition to the 20.000 hectares of main forests (abundant fauna), the sandy moors of Ermenonville, the marshes of the Thève, the wet meadows of the valleys of the Little nun and Thève, the lawns and slopes limestones of the Oise…

Since the July 26th 2006, the seat of the Oise Regional natural park - Country of France is installed with the Castle of the White Terminal at Orry-the-City - BP 6 - 60560 Orry-the-City
