Regional management of Agriculture and the Forest

The Regional managements of agriculture and forest (DRAF) are decentralized services of the ministry for agriculture and fishing which have the role of bringing in work to the level of the area the national policy of the Agriculture and of the Forêt.

The DRAF were created by decree of December 28th, 1984, following the laws of decentralization and devolution of 1982. They are under the functional of the Regional prefect and hierarchical authority of the Minister for agriculture.

Missions

  • social and economic Knowledge of the rural, agricultural and forest territories and of the men who live there and there work
  • Programmation and accompaniment of the regional policy within the framework mainly of the Contrat of projects agricultural State-area
  • Formation (agricultural vocational schools in particular; the DRAF is with those what the vice-chancellorship is with the colleges of State education)
  • Rural development

The DRAF thus has a role of coordination, programming, control and information flow. It also ensures the circulation of the appropriations between the central administration and the DDAF and their distribution.
