Regional Natural reserve
The statute of classification of natural sites in regional Natural reserve is defined by the relative law in the democracy of proximity of February 27th, 2002. This law modifies the code of the environment by instituting three new types of natural reserves in France: the national Natural reserves (natural ex-reserves), Natural reserves regional (RNR) (voluntary natural ex-Reserves) and the Natural reserves of Corsica.
The competence of classification of regional Natural reserves from now on is entrusted to the District council. In same time, the responsibility for old the voluntary Natural reserves is also entrusted to him. The publication of the decree on enforcement of a law of this law on May 18th 2005 returns the classification of new natural sites in possible RNR. Since this date, the District councils have the possibility of laying down their own policy of classification of natural sites in regional Natural reserve.
