Regional Economic and Social Council

Institution

In France, there exists in each area a regional Economic and Social Council . It is with the District council one of the two regional assemblies. It with a primarily advisory role. It delivers opinions either on its own initiative, or at the request of the District council, or in an obligatory way for the preparation and the execution of the regional plan and the budget. It is composed members (between 65 and 122) named for 6 years and divided into 4 colleges:

  • Representing companies and community activities nonpaid of the area,

  • Representing representative trade-union organizations on the national plan,
  • Representing organizations and association which take part in the collective life of the area,
  • Of personalities which, because of their activities or their quality, contribute to the development of the area.
