Geographical term, corresponding to the zone of influence of Lyon.
The region of Lion is not an administrative subdivision, nor historical (not to be confused with the province of the Lyonese) but corresponds to an economic reality. The area the Rhone-Alps is vaster than this one. The alpine zones (Savoy, Grenoble) and the south of the Vallée of the Rhone do not form part of it.
