In July 2000, the president of the French Polynésie Gaston Flosse made take four decrees at its Council of Ministers. These arrétés would have allowed the Territory to acquire a hotel pertaining to his/her son Reginald Flosse, with favorable conditions for this last.

the hotel could thus have been acquired at its purchase price, that is to say 1,95 billion Fcfp (16,34 million euros), whereas it was closed since 1998. Finally, the decrees had been withdrawn in November 2000.

on June 22nd, 2006, the Magistrates' court of PAPEETE condemned Gaston Flosse, in three months of suspended sentence for Prise illegal of interest. No sorrow of ineligibility was marked. The magistrates' court pronounced the release of Reginald Flosse.
