Regiment of walk of Chad

The Régiment of walk of Chad is a mechanized unit of the French Army , the only unit of infantry mechanized of the Troupes of navy, established in the north of Noyon (Oise).

The regiment counts in its rows 1  200 soldiers and civilians.

History

It is created in Morocco in July 1943 starting from the metropolitan personnel of the Régiment of Senegalese Riflemen of Chad and the metropolitan and European elements rejoined in North Africa, and becomes the regiment of infantry mechanized of the 2 {{E}} armor-plated Division, ordered by the general Leclerc.

It is called the " regiment of the serment" following the made promise with Koufra on March 2nd, 1941 by colonel Leclerc : “Swear to deposit the weapons only when our colors, our beautiful colors, float on the cathedral of Strasbourg”. Indeed the regiment took part amongst other things in the release of Paris then to that of Strasbourg.

Decorations

It is also decorated with the Croix of the Release, allotted on June 12th, 1945 with 4 palms and of the Presidential Unit American Quotation . It is entitled to the port of fodder with the colors of the Military decoration with olive with the colors of the ribbon of the Military Cross 1939-1945 and since June 18th, 1996 with fodder to the colors of the cross about the release.

Traditions

  • It is celebrated at the time of the birthday of the combat of BAZEILLES. This village which was 4 times taken again and gave up on orders, the August 31st and on September 1st, 1870.
