The name of Régiment of Piedmont was carried by a regiment of the Ancien mode created in 1569 under the name of Régiment of Brissac which became in 1585 the Regiment of Piedmont.

This regiment existed of 1585 with 1791 and it is at the origin of the 3 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry of Line

In 1776 , two of its battalions will form the Régiment of Blaisois
