Regiment of Berwick
The regiment of Berwick is one of the five last Irish regiments to the service of France under the reign of Louis XIV and which constituted a Irish Brigade.
Creation and various denominations
- 1698 : Creation under the name of regiment of Berwick .
- 1775 : Reinforced by incorporation of the Regiment of Clare .
- 1791 : Famous ''' 88 {{E}} Regiment of Infantry of Line '''.
- 1793 : Reformed.
