Reformed churches

The reformed Churches claim mainly Jean Calvin, but also of other reformers such as Ulrich Zwingli or Theodore de Bèze.

These Churches essaimé mainly in Suisse, Scotland, Netherlands and in France, and, since, in South Africa, South Korea, New Caledonia, with the Quebec and French Polynésie, etc In the Anglo-Saxon countries, they often name presbytériennes .

Doctrines

Within the general framework of Protestant theology , reformed theology more specifically stresses the absolute power of God, without contradiction with freedom, and with the responsibility for the Christian. On the contrary, since it is known forgiven and saved in Jesus-Christ, the Christian can lead his life with complete freedom in a demanding and responsible way, reconciling personal sanctification and engagement in the company. This transcendence of God implies also the relativisation of all the human capacities, which they are monks or political.

Organization

The reformed Churches have the characteristic to be independent from/to each other, as well at the organisational level as doctrinal. However, the majority of them are federate in national Churches (for example the Church reformed of France). On a world level the world reformed Alliance (made up of 70 million members) is the most important organization, but a certain number of Churches have adhered to the Reformed ecumenical council (oecumenical Conseil reformed), the two organizations started for a few years a work of bringing together. In practice, the reformed Churches are generally organized according to the synodal Système presbytérien, i.e. the decisions rest on a balance between local instances and union.

Since 1973, in Europe, reformed and Lutherans live in full communion connected with the church following the theological agreement of the Concorde of Leuenberg . Pasteur Lutheran can thus be charged with a reformed parish, and vice versa .
