Around film
- a paperboard opens film: " There is a fort in the South where here a few years a murder was commis". Actually, behind this simple idea, it is about a film shining on the madness and the deviations where the actors form a perverse round.
- Montgomery Clift was initially to interpret major Penderton. But the insurances doubted its physical health whose solidity was necessary to the role. His/her friend Elizabeth Taylor renonça even with its wages to ensure the role to him. 45 years old, weakened by long years of disease, he died of an heart attack little time before turning does not begin.
- the film, symbolically, is described like being held in the reflection of the gilded eye of a drawn peacock. That explains the title and the reason of the treatment of the initial film in a bath of pigments of this color. Each scene comprised, to create a contrast, an element which had its real color. But the public was diverted by this novation and the film arose in a traditional version.
