Mira is a municipality (in Portuguese: concelho or municĂpio ) of the Portugal, located in the District of Coimbra and the area Centers.
Geography

The municipality has moreover a maritime frontage, in the west, on the Atlantic Ocean.
This frontage is consisted a forest, a lagoon called Barrinha and a beach considered for its microclimate: Praia de Mira.
Praia de Mira is a tourist village attached administratively to Mira. It has had the blue flag for 15 years (clean beach).
History
The municipality was created in
1442, by octoi of a statute of municipal autonomy by the Pierre regent of Portugal, duke of Coimbra. The full statute of
Pt concelho was then given by charter of the king Manuel I {{er}}, in
1514.
