Referendum on the reform of the Senate and regionalization
In spring 1969, Charles de Gaulle, still weakened by the crisis of May 68, shouldered by its new Prime Minister Maurice Broods of Murville, lance a vast project of reform whose the reform of the Senate and the creation of the areas are the first stages. In order to make sure of the support of the population, it organizes a referendum which proceeds on April 27th, 1969. Not carries it to 52,41%. Taking note of the result, de Gaulle resigns on April 28th, 1969. Alain Poher, president of the Senate, takes the presidency of the Republic by interim until the following elections.
