Referendum of 1992 on the independence of Montenegro

In 1992 the first referendum for the independence of Montenegro took place. The results of this vote were of 95,96% to maintain the country in the Yugoslavia, in order to form a federation with the Serbia. The participation was only of 66% because of a call to the boycott on behalf of the Moslem and catholic minorities, as well as part of the pro-freedom fighters. The result of the poll was disputed for the lack of transparency of the election like for the massive propaganda on behalf of the state in favor of the vote pro-federation.

The second Référendum on the independence of Montenegro took place on May 21st, 2006 with a result of 55,50% in favor of independence, putting thus fine at the federation of Serbia-and-Montenegro.
