Redskin

The movement Redskin appeared in France and elsewhere at the end of the Eighties and with beginning of the year 90. Literally skin red, skin communist, vaguely related with the movement Punk, they are especially the heirs to the alternative rock'n'roll. This movement was born in reaction with the movement Bonehead which developed at this same period.

Even if the look of the redskins were copied from that of the skinheads, it were different however, in France, by the wearing of red laces, badges in connection with Communism, and of behaviors more punkisantes. The haircuts are different also, since often the redskins have a little more hair on the cranium (cut in springboard), contrary with the traditional skinheads which are shaven same length. It will be also noted that it sometimes happens to them to wear their wind-breaker Bomber with the lining (of orange color) towards outside, as well as other eccentricities, to try to be different.

A band of redskins Parisian of the time was pointed out under the name of the Red Warriors . The symbol of this band was the sickle and the beater of baseball, communist logo of the sickle and the diverted hammer. This band, of ten people, is known as one of the first bands which dared to violently face the skinheads of extreme-right-hand side on Paris.

The movement evolved/moved since end of the year 80, and the redskins have today their own music scene, their own groups of music, and their look approaches extremely the Skinhead S. Some in France is gathered within RASH (Red and Anarchist Skin Head, international associative movement of redskins), and publishes a periodic fanzine name of Barricata .
