Red city
A red city is a city preserving a great architectural heritage of the time active of.
Construction is quite specific for these buildings: they were made hones " of it; rouge" , of hardcores sealed with lime, sometimes decorated with polychrome geometrical reasons made up of bricks and stones limestones, as in Bourges or with Mans.
These cities were listed five: Bourges, Autun, Lyon, Albi and Mans. The technique of manufacture of these buildings was the same one although the various tribes at the time were quite different. The colors used were orange red. It acted above all of protection against the invaders. Then, of the masonries and the castles with these same stones were built inside these limits. The stones used were selected at various places of France: in the west, in the center and the south. It only remains very little of buildings in France able to testify to this construction.
The wall of Mans preserved in a remarkable state testifies to construction, at the same time old and one moved back time old solid. As in Bourges, where remains the southern wall, the technique of construction was specific and impressive. Indeed the wall can reach at its base, up to 5 meters of width. In the height, largest can reach 20 meters.
