History of the frankness
Genesis of the club
With the dissolution of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association , an agreement was concluded expect that the best team of the league, the Cougars of Victoria, could join the National league of hockey. The May 15th 1926, Cougars of Victoria of the league of hockey of the West were thus bought at the cost of: 100000 dollars and moved with Strait. Art Duncan was named managing director, trainer and captain of the team, the following year, it yielded his station of “DG” and trainer with from now on celebrates Jack Adams. They finished their first season in the last place in LNH, with a card of 12 victories only for 28 defeats and 4 ties. However, they had evolved/moved all their first season with the “foreigner”: indeed, no skating rink was ready to accommodate the team in the queen city of the car and they thus played their first season with Windsor in the province of the Ontario to the Canada. For the season 1927-1928 Cougars found a residence with the Detroit Olympia, and this until the December 15th 1979. They played their first match in this enclosure the November 22nd 1927.
They took part in the eliminatory Séries of the Coupe Stanley for the first time in 1929, they were made dominate 7-2 in a series of 2 matches against the Maple Leafs of Toronto. Into 1930, the name of Cougars was changed for that of Falcons de Détroit , but that did not improve of anything the results on the ice, Falcons missing the series four times at the time of their the first five seasons. To improve the throw of its attackers, Jack Adams made build a goalkeeper of wood that it equipped with all the equipment at the time of the drives: it should be specified that at the time, the replacing guard of the team had been borrowed by the team of Seattle of PCHL .
In 1932, the team was bought by James Norris, former member of the athletic Association amateur of Montreal, gaining Stanley Cut in 1892. This athletic Association was re-elected for its team of cycling called the Winged Wheels and had its own emblem. James Norris somewhat modified the logo and the October 5th 1932, the team of Strait became officially the Red Wings de Détroit , with new uniform and new logo. Quite financially affluent, Norris acquired of some players of foreground and Détroit became little by little a team much more competitive. Moreover this same year, the team succeeded in exceeding the first round of eliminatory series by beating late the Maroons of Montreal. They were eliminated thereafter in semi-final by the Rangers from New York.
The years records
The March 24th 1936, Wings met the Maroons of Montreal in first round of the eliminating heats. At the time of the first match, at the end of the 9th period (3 regular periods and 6 additional periods), with the 177e minute of play more precisely, Mud Bruneteau beat the guard Lorne Chabot of the Maroons of Montreal to put an end to the longest match of the history of LNH. The guard of Strait, Normie Smith, bleaching Maroons in the 2nd match also, establishing a record of consecutive minutes without to have granted of goal (248 minutes and 32 seconds), a record which holds always today. Wings were going later to beat the Maple Leafs of Toronto in four parts to gain the first Coupe Stanley of their history. Behind the bench as trainer-chief this year, one could find Jack Adams, that which thus gave its name to the Trophée Jack Adams. The following year, Détroit finally beat the Rangers of New York in five meetings for thus becoming the first American team to gain two consecutive Coupes Stanley.
Jack Adams knew its share of troubles as a managing director, it will be always known as that having exchanged Turk Broda with the Maple Leafs of Toronto, same Broda which made it possible Leafs to finally return from the back of a deficit of 0-3 of the Coupe Stanley (single event in the history of LNH) in 1942 against Red Wings de Détroit.
After several lost attempts and two finales, Détroit was going to gain another Stanley Cut in 1943 by beating the Bruins of Boston in four matches at the time of a final with one way.
In 1946, arrived the future large high-speed motorboat of the club, Gordie Howe.
The years Gordie Howe
The season 1946-47 marked, therefore, the arrival of famous the Gordie Howe, it was going to mark its first goal with its first match thus letting foresee a bright future. At the time of the season 1949-1950, the trio made up of Ted Lindsay, Sid Abel and Gordie Howe, terrorized the opposing teams, this year, they finished besides 1st, 2nd and 3rd with the classification of the pointer of LNH. This line of attack was called besides the Production line (in English: Production Line ).This line and more generally the team, besides was not very liked outside the Michigan. Unfavourable leaders, partisans and players liked to criticize, hoot or strike these players. Sid Abel took besides hooted of the public like a mark of respect.
Gordie was the conveyer of disc, Teddy was the brain and the engine, and me, I was more or less the street sweeper| Sid Abel, on the Production Line .
At the time of the series of 1950, Gordie Howe was going seriously to be wounded. Indeed, during a match of semi-final against Toronto, he wanted to put Ted Kennedy in failure, missed it and knocked hard the head against the balustrade. Seriously wounded, Howe was going to undergo a delicate surgical operation to reduce the pressure in its brain. All the night, a radio station held its informed listeners of the health condition of the player. Howe was going to survive, but was to miss the continuation of the series. In spite of this wound of Howe, Wings gained their fourth Coupe Stanley finally by beating Rangers.
At the time of the two following years, Détroit added several other players of foreground such Alex Delvecchio, Terry Sawchuk, Red Kelly or Marcel Pronovost.
In 1952, Red Wings became the first team to gain eight consecutive matches in series and the Coupe Stanley, without to have undergone only one defeat, to finally finally beat the Canadian of Montreal by 4 victories with 0, thus carrying the meter of the frankness with five cuts Stanley.
In 1954 and 1955 Détroit added two news cuts Stanley with its prize list twice while beating by the Canadian of Montreal. But Red Wings were far from suspecting that they were there the two last Stanley cuts of their beautiful domination of the beginning of the year fifty and that it would be necessary to wait more than forty years before enjoying the victory again.
The sad period
The years 1960 were the one long period beginning of food shortage for Red Wings. Indeed between 1967 and 1983, Red Wings took part only twice in the series. Their deep lack of strength, success and their vexations in all kinds their were worth the ridiculous nicknames of Dead Wings or Dead Things , (“Dead Wings” and “Dead Things”), nicknames which are both of the word games with the name of the équipe. For this period the troubles of Jack Adams as a trainer did nothing but start. In 1955, it exchanged Terry Sawchuk with Boston and Ted Lindsay with Chicago because this last tried to create a trade union of the players. After being itself removed from Glenn Hall, it sent Johnny Bucyk to Boston to make return Sawchuk. In 1962, Jack Adams gave up its station and became president of the central Ligue of hockey.
But during these very hard times, its successors did not do better. Thus, in the category of the managing directors missing their company, Alex Delvecchio, at the time of sound short passage as DG, exchanged Marcel Dionne with the Kings of Los Angeles in 1975.
Gordie Howe was going to take its retirement in 1971, holding inter alia the records of the greatest number of goals (801), of master keys (: 1049) and of points (: 1850) in the history of the National league of hockey (15 goals, 26 master keys for 41 points with the Whalers de Hartford in 1979-80). Nearly 35 years later, only Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier succeeded in cumulating more points than Mr. Hockey .
During the Season LNH 1979-80, Red Wings left their residence of the Detroit Olympia for that of the Joe Louis Arena, where they hoped to be rebuilt.
The revival
In 1982 the frankness was sold by Bruce Norris with Mike Ilitch for approximately eight million American dollars.
In 1983, Wings fished out the young center of Cranbrook (Colombia-British), some Steve Yzerman. It was the best recruit of the team and was going to be the player dominating of this frankness for the years to come, which made it possible the team to start again to have success. This season, Détroit took part in the series for the first time since six years. They will be made leave in four matches by Saint-Louis. The following year it is Chicago which left Détroit in three dry matches. Strait was better but it still missed this small something. In 1987, Yzerman, with the assistance of Petr Klima, Adam Oates, Gallant Gerald, the defender Darren Veitch and the new trainer-chief Jacques Demers, succeeds in going until to semi-final for the first time of modern times, to incline itself vis-a-vis powerful the Oilers d' Edmonton of Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier. They reiterated this performance in 1988 with the same results (beaten 4 matches with 1 by Edmonton).
In 1989, Détroit turned to Europe for its fishing out, thus Sergei Fedorov, Vladimir Konstantinov and Nicklas Lidström, inter alia, became of Wings and was key elements of the success of Hockeytown at the time of the years 1990. This same year, Steve Yzerman registered its personal record of 65 goals, but despite everything, Wings were eliminated in first round by the Blackhawks from Chicago. The following season, Yzerman marked 62 goals, but the team does not succeed in being classified for the spring tournament. Jacques Demers was returned of its functions and since, Wings did not miss the series any more. Thereafter, the team accepted the assistance of Keith Primeau, which with Yzerman and Fedorov became the three most popular figures of the years 1990. With them in 1991 and 1992 arrived Paul Coffey, Slava Kozlov, Darren McCarty and Vladimir Konstantinov.
Strait was rebuilt to become one of the dominant teams of the years 1990 and 2000.
The large team
The trainer-chief with the most victories in the history of LNH, Scotty Bowman, joined the team in 1993. He went to seek Slava Fetisov, Igor Larionov, Mike Vernon, Brendan Shanahan and Larry Murphy, its mission was clear: to bring back Détroit of the Stanley Cut finally, which had not been seen since 1966.It had the full powerss and as of its second season, it brought the team to the top of LNH to gain the first of the five trophies President in ten years, and arrived until finally for the first time in 29 years.
Les Red Wings was made sweep in four matches by the Devils of the New Jersey in 1995, but Détroit started again to monopolize the first places.
In 1996, Red Wings beat, with 62 victories, the record of the greatest number of victories in LNH, but were acknowledged overcome against the Avalanche of Colorado in 6 matches at the time of the eliminatory series, the Avalanche of Colorado becoming with the passage the team which one rained oneself to hate on the side of the Michigan. Indeed the competition between the two clubs will be increasing progressively of the seasons, reaching its apogee at the time of a disastrous match of playoff the March 26th 1997 and a brawl of an extreme violence (in particular, made rare, a brawl between the two guards Mike Vernon and Patrick Roy).
Strait dominated Colorado, sportivement speaking, to reach its second final into three ans.
Helped well by famous the Grind Line, Red Wings dominated the Flyers of Philadelphia of Eric Lindros and John LeClair and this into four matchs.
Forty-two years after its last title, Détroit took down finally its eighth Coupe Stanley, offering to the passage the Trophée Idiot Smythe with the guard Mike Vernon, impeccable during all the eliminatory series.
The following year and after a regular springtide of great quality, Détroit made the master key of two, by gaining its second consecutive Coupe Stanley by dominating this time the Capitals of Washington finally, and always in four dry matches. This time, it is emblematic the captain of Wings, Steve Yzerman, which gained the Trophée Idiot Smythe.
The first of the two championships was obscured by a serious automobile accident, the shortly after the title, leaving permanent after-effects to Konstantinov and Sergei Manatsakanov, the therapeutist of the team. Vladimir Konstantinov suffered from irreversible damage to the brain. At the time of the season 1997 - 1998, and after having swept the final of the Stanley cut against the Capitals of Washington, Konstantinov came in wheelchair on the ice to be able to touch the Coupe Stanley. An image which will remain engraved forever in the memories.
Grind Line
The Grind Line was the name of the line of attack of the frankness in the years 1990. The trainer of the time, Scotty Bowman, formed this line, very rough, after the shipwreck of his team at the time of the finale of the Coupe Stanley in 1995 vis-a-vis the Devils of the New Jersey.
In the beginning, Grind Line, or line of harassing, was composed, during the apogee of Red Wings in the years 1990, by three players, Kris Draper, Joe Kocur and Kirk Maltby. During the final of 1997 vis-a-vis the Flyers of Philadelphia, this line was very effective against the line of attack made up of John LeClair, Eric Lindros and Mikael Renberg.
This line was feared by hardness of its elements but also because they marked closely adversaries, that they were very rough and also because they provided a remarkable work, very often in the shade of its " stars".

The Russian Five
Sergei Fedorov, Igor Larionov, Vyacheslav Kozlov, Vladimir Konstantinov and Viacheslav Fetisov formed at Reds Wings a unit of Red Wings of five players of Russian origins called the Russian Five in the years 1990. This unit had its own system of play.
This system of play, set up by Scotty Bowman, was copied on the model of the Soviet teams which dominated the world and Olympic competition during the years 1970, the years 1980 and the beginning of the year 1990, with a combination speed and control of the disc which was higher than the other nations.
The Russian Five , literally the Russian cinqs , played a big role for the period of success of Wings and in particular at the time of the victories of the Coupe Stanley in 1997 and 1998.

The team of dream
After its double sacring, Détroit dominated the regular season always as much but was discovered weaknesses at the time of the eliminatory series. Sergei Fedorov often made speak about him, on as apart from the ice. In addition to a very media adventure with a champion of tennis, which seemed more to aggravate its leaders it was well his annoying tendency to always want to increase its, already enormous, wages. Tensions were formed with the club but were quickly swept by Scotty Bowman which required always more of its team. After the departure of Vernon, Détroit did not manage to fall on the rare pearl to defend its cages at the time of the eliminatory series. The case regulated Fedorov, Bowman and Ken Holland then reflects on foot a team of very high level. In the cages, Détroit recruited Dominik Hašek Sabers of Buffalo, then in attack Brett Hull of the Stars of Dallas, which were both on the market of the autonomous players in 2001. Without forgetting Luc Robitaille Kings of Los Angeles. While counting, moreover, on its sure values (Yzerman, Lidström, Fedorov, Shanahan, Osgood…) and pulled by one of the best technicians of the history, Détroit could with difficulty not glaner a tenth (and last to date) Coupe Stanley, not without to have dominated the regular season again (profit of the Trophée President). Finally, Détroit beat the Hurricanes of the Caroline in five matches, Nicklas Lidström becoming with the passage the first European player to gain the Trophée Idiot Smythe.
At the end of the season, Dominik Hašek and Scotty Bowman took their retirement and Luc Robitaille left the frankness in 2003 to turn over to Los Angeles, after two difficult seasons.
Successive failures
Appointed new trainer-chief, Dave Lewis, assistant trainer of Scotty Bowman former seasons (one even says that it is Bowman itself which would have imposed Lewis), does not make a success of its succession. Indeed, if Strait dominates always as much in regular seasons, Wings are often swept as of the first turns of the eliminatory series. The contribution of the goalkeeper Curtis Joseph changes nothing there. In 2003 Détroit was made leave in four dry matches by the Mighty Ducks d' Anaheim. In 2004 Détroit passed only one turn, vis-a-vis Nashville, before being made surprise by the Flames of Calgary. Wings having lost Steve Yzerman in series of second round because of a wound to the eye. This last defeat was also, and especially, the end of the adventure for Lewis, congédié for lack of results. Brett Hull left, him also, Détroit for the Coyotes of Phoenix, before putting a term at its following career with the beginning of the year.
Mike Babcock, however very liked at the Mighty Ducks d' Anaheim and which left a final lost vis-a-vis New Jersey, decided to leave and raise the challenge of Strait, i.e. to gain one eleventh Coupe Stanley in the history of the frankness. Its first season was interesting, but as often these last years Détroit cracked in eliminatory series. Indeed, after having dominated once more the regular season, gaining with the passage their fifth Trophy President in ten years, Wings were made surprise with the first turn, beaten by Edmonton 4 victories with 2. Admittedly Edmonton was the future finalist (beaten by Caroline), but that is not enough to give again the smile with Ken Holland and the organization which made a spring cleaning. Brendan Shanahan thus left Détroit for the Rangers of New York. Mike Babcock, it, survived this failure.
Mike Babcock can count on the return of Dominik Hašek, which makes a return after one season of retirement and a short passage to Ottawa, and on Robert Lang coming from the Capitals of Washington.
But the year 2006 will undoubtedly remain also as the last season of Steve Yzerman which throws sponge after many wounds putting a term at its prestigious career.
I never saw that at the time. I saw players immobilized for the same kind of problem of knee. But him, it put ice above and continued to play. He said that he could not damage his knee more. Ca takes much courage to do what it did, it is certain. But one day it will not be able any more! | Scotty Bowman in connection with the wound with the knee of Steve Yzerman.
Goodbye, champion!
Twenty years of capitanat for 23 years played in the same team (record of the National league of hockey). If a quality is appropriate for Steve Yzerman it is fidelity. Yzerman will undoubtedly remain the captain of Wings, considered, with Gordie Howe, like the best player having carried this shirt ailé.
At the time of the fishing out of 1983, four teams had the right to recruit Yzerman, Red Wings, the Whalers de Hartford, the North Stars of Minnesota and the Islanders of New York which had just gained four cuts consecutive Stanley. He hoped to evolve/move with New York, but did not refuse to join, and without regrets, Détroit. There is well had several rumors of exchange in its connection, but there will remain faithful to Red Wings.
Several things must arrive so that a guy remains a long time in the same city. I failed to be exchanged with some recoveries| Steve Yzerman .
Steve Yzerman forever be largest of the league, it could not gain much personal honors, being in the shade of players like Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky, but it always played with a passion that few players had, as much with Détroit that in selection, and it can be now withdrawn with the feeling of pride and a place assured with the Temple famous the.
The way in which he plays and its eagerness with work do all to us to grow a little. | Eric Lindros in connection with Steve Yzerman.
It is one of these players, and they are rare, which do their work the every day| Scotty Bowman in connection with Steve Yzerman.
Its shirt was withdrawn from circulation with Détroit the January 3rd 2007 with, was made rare, the C of captain above, like paying a last homage to him. It accepted the honors on behalf of the Gouverneur of the Michigan the January 3rd 2007. The January 30th of the same year, it was named managing director team of Canada to replace Wayne Gretzky.
The fans of Strait also asked so that a bronze statue of Stevie is set up in front of the Joe Louis Arena as quickly as possible, with the image of what is planned for Gordie Howe.
The current team
Some exchanges and the signature of autonomous players make it possible Wings to remain among the elite of the LNH and that in spite of the installation of a wage ceiling in 2005. Indeed, the perfect management of Ken Holland allows Détroit, contrary to other formations, to preserve its role of fortified town of the National league of hockey.
Moreover, with a new generation taken along by Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Hockeytown can see coming.
Since the season 2006-07 Wings must make with new threats with the Western, the Ducks d' Anaheim and the Predators of Nashville, in particular in the division Centrale for the latter.
Season LNH 2006-2007
After a beginning of the season 2006-07 chaotic, Red Wings, progressively will fill the delay on their main competitors such, the Ducks, the Predators and the Canucks of Vancouver.
After an end of season of very great quality, Détroit will finish at the head conference of the West, in front of Anaheim, and will even buckle the season in number one of the national league, ex æquo in points with the Sabers of Buffalo.
Nevertheless, they will not gain the Trophée President because dominated by Buffalo solely with the numbers of victories.
At the time of the eliminatory series Wings, which suffers since 2002 in the spring tournament, did not leave favoris.
However at the time of the first turn Détroit eliminated the Flames from Calgary four victories with two. It should be noted that at the time of this series, the replacing guard of the Flames, Jamie McLennan struck a violent one blow of stick to the belly of Johan Franzén whereas McLennan had just replaced Miikka Kiprusoff.
At the time of the second round, Détroit eliminated the Sharks de San Jose on the same score from four victories to two.
Wings will fall finally of conference vis-a-vis Ducks, in a series marked by the joint aggression of Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer towards Tomas Holmström.
At the time of this contact, Pronger which in addition gave a blow of stick in the nape of the neck of Swedish of Wings, which have for effect to make steal its helmet and to open the face slightly to him, will take a meeting of suspension.
Pronger will attack then the Canadian press, which he shows to take position for Wings.
Anaheim will beat all the same Détroit four victories with two. An enormous disillusion for Hockeytown .
The intersaison, undoubtedly, will be very animated in the frankness from the Michigan, where Ken Holland will try to still consolidate this team, while replacing the future autonomous and unquestionable players veterans in departure.

Shirts and logos of the frankness
Logos
The shirt and the logo of Strait evolved/moved very little during these years. Before 1932 and the repurchase of the club by James Norris, the teams of Cougars of Victoria then of Falcons de Détroit had each one their own logo.
James Norris, repurchasing the frankness, decided to change the name then the logo of the club. Falcons become Red Wings and the logo also changes taking as a starting point that of the Winged Wheels , team of cycling belonging to the athletic Association amateur of Montreal of which was member James Norris.
The new logo of Wings represents a wheel with wings rouges.
This logo will be slightly changed into 1935 and 1948 to take its form known today.
Shirts
Like the logo, the shirt did not evolve/move much since the beginnings of the frankness.
In 1928, the shirt is white with horizontal stripes rouges.
The team not carrying yet at the time the name of Red Wings , it was registered only the name of Strait on the front whereas officially the name of the club is still the Cougars of Victoria then the Falcons de Detroit.
In 1932, the shirt becomes very white with a red wing (version 1932) on the front.
In 1955, the shirt starts to take a form close to that of aujourd'hui.
The wing is always different from that which one knows, but one discovers on the handles and the bottom of the shirt, a red line slightly larger.
Beginning 1980, the white shirt takes its final form with a redrawn red wing and the handles all become red with a small white line.
The external shirt, is to him plain red with a small white line on the top of the elbows and the bottom of the shirt.
In 2004, LNH decides to exchange the shirts residences and outsides. Thus the plain red shirt will become the shirt residence and the white with red handles that of outside.
In 2007, the equipment supplier Reebok, official supplier of the league, decides to modernize the shirts of all the franknesses from LNH. Red Wings are the only formation whose shirt did not evolve/move much, only the logo of the national league appears on the bottom of the collar of the shirts residences and outsides.

The Joe Louis Arena (1979 at our days)
Completed the December 12th 1979 for a sum of approximately 57 million dollars of the time, the Joe Louis Arena was named in the honor of the Boxeur Joe Louis which grows in Détroit.
The first event was a match of Basket-ball opposing the Michigan Wolverines to UDM Titans.
The arena is the property of the town of Strait and its operator is Olympia Entertainment, Inc. , a company belonging to Ilitch Holdings, Inc. (Mike Ilitch being the owner of Wings).
The Joe Louis Arena was conceived by the firm Smith, Hinchmen and Grylls Associates .
Red Wings were crowned success since their removal in the Joe Louis Arena , gaining three there Coupes Stanley (1997,1998 and 2002).
Its former tenants were the Detroit Drive of the Arena Football League (of 1988 to 1993), the Red Wings Junior of Strait ( Ontario Hockey League ) (of 1992 to 1995) and the Strait Rockers (NPSL) (of 1996 to 2001).
The Pistons of Strait of NBA used this arena for some matches at the time of the season 1984-85 after the roof of their room, the Pontiac Silverdome , was destroyed by a snowstorm during the season.
Several plans for the construction of a new arena were proposés.
For the moment, the Joe Louis Arena is regarded as rather decayed seeing antiquated because of its lack of continuations of luxury and other installations (which generate the incomes of the arena and the club). Moreover, certain proposals for the expansion of the edge of the Strait To rivet required that the Joe Louis Arena be démoli.
However, a great number of supporters is still attached to the room and does not wish to see their team changing skating rink.

Caption octopus
The legend of the Octopus, or octopus , is a tradition of Red Wings de Détroit at the time of the home matches in which an octopus is thrown on the surface of ice to carry chance during a race to the finales. The origins of this habit go back to the season 1952 at the time of the eliminatory series vis-a-vis the Maple Leafs of Toronto. Whereas they were dominated two handles with zero to eight matches of the final victory, one to support of Wings launched an octopus having eight arm . This octopus represented the eight matches which separated Détroit from final success; thus after having beaten Toronto Wings beat the Canadian of Montreal finally to take down the Coupe Stanley.Since 1952, because launching in the air of the octopuses is generally regarded as the symbol of the success, the practice persisted every year. At the time of a match in 1995, the spectators threw 36 octopuses! The mascot of Wings is an octopus crimson called Al the octopus or Al the Octopus . For a few seasons two octopuses have been fixed on the roofs of the Joe Louis Arena representing the sixteen matches which separate, henceforth, the team of the final victory at the time of the eliminatory series.
The Panthers of Florida were inspired some for launching, as for them, of the dead rats. Seeing delays of plays more and more, the National league of hockey prohibited any jet of animals died on the ices. The Oilers d' Edmonton, for their part, started to launch beefsteaks on the ice, having for results several arrests by the police force.
Nevertheless, in Détroit, the tradition of the octopus persists in spite of the many fines of the National league towards Wings.
The mascot
Like any American professional team, Red Wings have a mascot, that of Strait is an octopus, resulting from the legend of the octopus , created at the time of the eliminatory series of 1995.
This octopus was called “Al” (this nickname is inspired by Al Sobotka, then responsible for the ice of the Joe Louis Arena). Each year at the time of the eliminatory series, Al is installed in the roofs of the skating rink. This Al thus represents a giant octopus with twinkling red eyes, a smile mocker with conspicuous teeth and a red wing on its body.
It often appears on the shirts and promotional objects of the frankness. The company Coca-Cola will take again the character of Al for a promotion of drinks of the same name in the Michigan. A headstock will be born even and will run out very quickly. There were many of other types of goods of Al , such of the stickers, the inflatable dolls, and the transfers. During the eliminatory series of 1996, CD called has Cal to Arms , represented Al on the cover.
Al also has its number of shirt, this one being obviously the 8.

Red Wings in the sporting life of Strait
The frankness from Red Wings is one of the only formations to be profited from a popularity similar even higher than that of the local team of basketball, which is rare with the the United States.
The concession of hockey of Red Wings is, indeed, in the town of Strait the most popular frankness with the Pistons from Strait in NBA.
This recognition is due to the fact that Red Wings have had for several decades, a fortified town in the sporting history of the city. Even if Strait has in its city several franknesses with the Tigers in MLB, the Pistons in NBA, the Lions in NFL and the female ones of the Shock in WNBA, the team of Red Wings fills more the rooms undoubtedly expressed as a percentage partly thanks to the good performances on the ice.
It is good as to note as Détroit is one of the teams which records the greatest number of entries of the National league of hockey: since 1989 Détroit was with four recoveries the team with the highest average of entries of the league (1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94 and 2001-02).
With the economic serious attack which touch Détroit and its close area since beginning 2007, the multitude at the end of the season and especially at the time of the eliminatory series of the same year, in the Joe Louis Arena , strongly fell. At the time of the beginning of the season 2007-08 the multitude continued has to drop, always because of the same reasons.
The table below presents in figures the filling of the Joe Louis Arena since 1989:
Winks in Red Wings
Several famous fans of Red Wings do not hesitate to make winks with their favorite team, in emissions, televised series or in musical clips. Here is a small list:
-
In the televised series Papa arranges (in English: Home Improvement ), Tim Taylor (alias: Tim Allen) carries regularly the shirt of Red Wings and often refers to the frankness from Michigan.
- In the televised series Scrubs , Dr. Cox (alias: John C. McGinley) frequently carries a shirt of Red Wings when it is not at the hospital.
- In the televised series Friends , one can notice on certain episodes, a towel with the color of Red Wings fixed on the left of the main door of the apartment of Joey and Chandler.
- In the televised series the Festival at the house (in English: Full House ), Joey Gladstone ( alias Dave Coulier) carries regularly the shirt of Red Wings and often refers to the team. Moreover Dave Coulier is large to support frankness.
- In some of its video clips, the American rappor Tupac Shakur often carried the shirt of Red Wings and did not hide that it was large to support frankness.
- At the time of the procession in the town of Strait of the players of basketball of the Pistons of Strait, the shortly after their title NBA in 2004, Rasheed Wallace carries a shirt of Red Wings and referred to the frankness from hockey at the time of its speech.
Hockeytown
Hockeytown, literally in French “city of hockey”, is the nickname given to the room and the frankness from Red Wings de Détroit.
Its origin, comes owing to the fact that Détroit is regarded as one of the largest American teams of the history of the National league of hockey, therefore the city from the hockey to the the United States.
This name is also given for the attachment of the population, of the town of Strait, towards its team of hockey.
Autoproclamé thus, to the beginning of the year 1990, this nickname is even indicated on the ice of the Joe Louis Arena.

Red Wings invest in the caritative works of the town of Détroit. The team of Red Wings is concerned with underprivileged children of the city and her area. The club is proud to support the hospitals of the children of the Michigan via a variety of programs such as the visit of players or the collection of gifts near the spectators. Indeed, Wings set up a program concerning the supporters: that consists in making a gift of at least 50 dollars at the hospital of the children; the most generous givers will be able to celebrate their birthday during a match.
Finally the frankness created an active, named community “ Heart off Hockeytown ” or “ heart of Hockeytown ”. Thanks to demonstrations organized by the club, Red Wings bring a financial support, with height of 1 annual million dollars, at the various organizations of the city.

In Red Wings de Détroit, since 1926, of Art Duncan with Mike Babcock, twenty-six trainers are succédé.
Jack Adams was one of the first has to mark the history of the concession. Indeed, with 964 matches of LNH, it proves to be most faithful to Wings. It is at the origin of the greatest number of victories with its 413 successes and three Coupes Stanley. It also modernized the play of Wings.
Tommy Ivan replaced Adams in 1947 to continue in the line of the victories. It took down, him also, three Coupes Stanley in seven seasons spent in the Michigan.
Sid Abel is as for him, the second trainer, behind Adams, having the greatest number of matches to the meter, with 811 meetings but only 340 victories, which makes an average which remains very discussed. There remains nevertheless one of the most outstanding trainers of the history of Red Wings.
It is in 1993 that one of the trainers arrives who marked more Détroit. William Scott " Scotty" Bowman will take down in nine seasons and 701 matches three Coupes Stanley and 410 victories. But it is especially with its revolution system of play, with the famous Russian Five, that Bowman will leave its mark over this last decade with the Joe Louis Arena.
Besides he will put a term at his prestigious career at the end of the season 2002 and one 10th and last, to date, Coupes Stanley for Red Wings.
