Systematic position

In the Taxonomy Sibley-Ahlquist, this family was integrated into the charadriidés where it constitutes with the Nozzle-with ibis Tibetan, the tribe of the Recurvirostrini, Groupe brother of the Haematopodini (oyster):

|- - Charadriinae | Charadriidae ---| | |- - Haematopodini | | |- - Recurvirostrinae - - - - -| |- - Recurvirostrini = Recurvirostridae + Ibidorhynchidae

Recently, Alan P. Peterson again distinguished 4 families different (Charadriidés, hématopodidés, récurvirostridés and ibidorhynchidés) thus finding classification from Howard and Moore.
