Overall picture

The Scottish Rite Rectified ( R.E.R. ) is one of the very many maconnic rites . It was mainly elaborate by Jean-Baptiste Willermoz. This famous Lyons mason reforms the French branch of the strict observance templière to the general assembly of Freemasons of Gaules in 1778, there integral of the elements about the elected officials cohen and while renonçant with the heritage templier. One can regard this date as the birth of the RER inspired of various initiatory systems of the time:
  • the Order of the Knights Elected Masons Coëns of the Universe of Martines de Pasqually,
  • the Strict Observance templière, chivalrous masonry initially established in Germany then extended to the rest of Europe
  • Écossisme maconnic (the various tops ranks yet not organized at the time)
  • blue masonry in three ranks (apprentice, companion, Master) as practiced by French Freemasonry (GODF) at this time and which became the French Rite such as we know it today

Organization of the Rite

The Rectified Scottish Rite is a chivalrous rite, structured in four ranks maconnic and a chivalrous rank together with one probationary period of rider beginner forming the interior Ordre . A succession of multiple general assemblies of Freemasons allowed his progressive development. The RER is Christian, but according to obedience this Christianity is allowed either in a strict direction referring to the Holy Trinity and the Incarnation of the Verb, or in a broader direction of the term, i.e. without reference to the Christian dogmas.

It is articulated in the following way:

  • blue Cabins:

    • Apprentice
    • Main Companion
The cabin of Jean saint is that where the layman is received freemason and that where it will evolve/move while passing by the first three ranks which are the base joint to the whole of Freemasonry all confused rites. Spécificté of the Rectified Rite the general outline of Freemasonry is to have shown and to have incorporated there symbols of the Strict Observance (tables, symbols of each ranks for example) or symnboles about the Elected officials Coëns (3 voyages of the first rank, metals of the second rank, the mausoleum of the third rank, etc) in their giving a significance specifies resulting from the doctrines of Martines de Pasqually.
  • green Cabin:
    • Main Scot of Saint-Andrew
The cabin of André saint is that where the Master, having followed the whole of the advance in cabin of Jean saint of the Rectified Rite, will be able to supplement his maconnic initiation. The rank of Scottish Master of André saint is the fruit of a great effort of synthesis which made it possible to take, in the various ranks Scot of the XVIIIè century, the very varied symbols and to give them a homogeneous significance to the service of the doctrines of Martines de Pasqually.
  • interior Order:
    • Rider beginner
    • beneficial Knight of the holy city (CBCS)
The interior Order is one of the two elements which make the specificity of the Rectified Rite. Indeed, it is about one of knighthood whose character maconnic is tiny room to its minimum. It is a modification of the knighthood of the Stricte Observance which was claimed downward about the Temple where the CBCS see nothing any more but one spiritual filiation.
  • secret Class (Metropolitan College):
    • Large Profès
    • profès
The secret class, that one believed disappeared a long time and whose continuity was revealed at the end of the years 1960, is the pinnacle of the rectified temple where the doctrines of Martines de Pasqually are explicitly delivered with the members of the Order in all his theoretical dimension.

The Order prescribes with its members the profession of the Christian religion, an active benevolence towards all the men, the respect of all the beliefs and all the ideas and the defense of oppressed.

Obediences which practice the RER

Let us note that this Rite is practiced today within principal Obediences such as: Concurrently to that, the Rectified Scottish Rite is also practiced by a multitude of small Obediences often not recognized by the whole of other Obediences and whose legitimacy can sometimes be questioned.
