Recouvrance

Recouvrance is a commune of the Territoire of Belfort attached to the canton of Grandvillars. The village, whose territory does not exceed 150 hectares, is located between Grosne and Brebotte. One listed 65 inhabitants in 1999 there whereas they were 92 in 1803. Average altitude is of 377 meters.

In 1105, at the time of the foundation of the priory of Froidefontaine, Recouvrance belonged to the town hall and the parish of Grosne. In 1454 the stronghold, like that of Grosne, falls to the lord de Montjoie whose descendant made build a castle with Recouvrance.
