Receiver ionotrope

A receiving ionotrope sensitive to a Ligand is a membrane Protéine which opens an ionic channel following the connection of a chemical messenger or Neurotransmetteur. They are generally selective with a type of ions such as Na+, K+, Ca2+ or Cl. They are localized on the level of the synapses, where they convert in a way extrèmement fast a chemical presynaptic message (Neurotransmetteur) into electric post-synaptic message.

Classification

  • pentameric receivers (or Cys-loop): they consist of 5 sub-units. One distinguishes there the cation channels (Récepteur nicotinic or nAChR, receiver serotoninergic 5HT3) and the anion channels (receiver GABAA and GABAC, receiving Glycine).

  • receivers tetrameric (or Receiving glutamate): they consist of 4 sub-units, are activated by glutamate and are selective for the cations. One distinguishes there the receiving NMDA, receiving kaïnate and receiving AMPA according to their respective pharmacology.
  • receivers trimeric (or P2X): they consist of 3 sub-units, are activated by the ATP and are selective for the cations.
