Rebuild off Evangelion

Rebuild off Evangelion , of its Japanese name ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版 ( Evangelion Shin Gekijōban , Evangelion: New Films ), is a series of four cartoon films, presenting a version alternate and improved of the series TV Evangelion as well as a completely new end, planned for 2007/2008.

The operational startup of this project was revealed in the Japanese magazine Newtype of the month of October 2006 (appeared in kiosk on September 9th).

Goals of the project Rebuild

The magazine contains a discussion with the producer Toshimichi Ohtsuki, who explains as the films could be considering as well by impassioned original series, that by the neophytes who never saw Evangelion. In order not to be sharp with the new public, the approach of the scenario will be simpler, but it will be necessary despite everything to reflect a little for all to include/understand. The contents will be different from the series TV, nevertheless all the action is located within the temporal framework of the series.
the Ohtsuki producer also specifies that from now on, Evangelion is anchored in the spirit of the public like a series to the obscure, tortuous and incomprehensible universe: Ohtsuki wishes to surprise the general opinion by delivering a vision much clearer, and which would solve the mysteries of the original series.

In another maintenance on Internet site of the daily newspaper Asahi Shimbun, the Ohtsuki producer specifies that the fourth film will constitute a completely new end with the series TV, that it will be final and comprehensible.

Technique and the organization behind Rebuild

The magazine Newtype reveals that Hideaki Anno will be the supervisor of films, while Kazuya Tsurumaki will be the realizer, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto and Ikuto Yamashita will take again their respective stations of Character designer and Mecha designer. Concerning first film, Hideaki Anno will be the scenario writer and Shinji Higuchi will deal with the Scénarimage.

The official site of Rebuild off Evangelion indicates that the first three films will take again the contents of the series TV (another article on Internet site of the daily newspaper Sankei Sports precise which they will be episodes 1 to 24): the key plans ( genga ) of the original episodes will be reanimated in 35mm with new intermediate plans ( dōga ) improved: many remade decorations, new characters, new plans and new scenes. synthesized images will be used to make the actions more spectacular (such as for example the cut of electricity with large scales of episode 6)
