Rebound (Half-Life)
Ricochet is a MOD Multijoueur of the play Half-Life. This play was developed by Valve Software and put on sale on November 1st, 2000. The patch 1.1.1.0 of the play is him left the June 12th 2002. It is a MOD of official play, and it is possible to buy it via Steam. However, it is free for those which bought the play Half-Life, because this one proposes the MOD.
Gameplay
Rebound is a play of match to death, recognizable with its apparent simplicity. The play is inspired by the sets of arcades and the sets of platforms. One of these independent sources of inspiration is surely the film Tron, in which a similar play is shown. The players jump on platforms lit by neons, which are located at the top of a pit. The players must draw above using discs, to push out them platforms and to precipitate it in the vacuum.
There are also horizontal barriers on which the discs can rebound (from where the name rebound). The result is a fall of a point for a rebound, two per two rebounds, etc Ricochet includes/understands also a second attack (made by the keys of attacks alternatively), which cuts the head of your adversary. The attack " décapitation" (as it is called) uses the three discs of the player, but the latter are reloaded quickly, in once.
A contrario others mods of Half-Life, the number of died of the player is not shown on the table of the scores, only the number of killed players. The aiming is indeed two-dimensional, and the movement is tiny room to an automatic jump between the platforms, even if certain advanced players manage to make operations more complicated in the airs.
Three charts are available with this MOD, two for match with death, and for a duel. The charts not-official for Ricochets are rare, but some can be found.
Powerups
There are four kinds of powerups, each one limited in time:
- the " shooting puissant" : It replaces the primary attack by the secondary attack " décapitation". Only one disc is used, instead of three.
- the " shooting gelant" : This shooting slows down considerably the adversary, and the fact of shining in blue.
- the " shooting rapide" : This shooting makes it possible to the player much more quickly to draw, and with more discs.
- the " shooting triple" : This shooting makes it possible to the player to draw three discs at the same time.
The powerups are limited in time, but if the player dies, it preserves its powerup as long as its time is not past. However, of the independent developers the sources of the play modified, and thus the powerups are not preserved any more after the death of the player.
Moreover, the powerups can be combined.
