Renaissance is a British group of progressive Rock which was a certain success during the Années 1970.

History

The group was created by two ex- Yardbirds, Keith relf and Jim McCarty . The group engaged at once Jane Relf (sister of Keith), John Hawken and Louis Cennamo . The group created then the album Renaissance . After that, the group took part only in the album Illusion and ceased its activity. The group revives finally during the day in 1972 with the album Prolog but with a very new personnel made up of John Camp, John All, Mike Dunford and Terry Sullivan the whole directed by incredible the Annie Haslam with the songs. The personnel remained the same one of 1972 with 1980 after the departure of Terry Sullivan and John All. During this period, the group recorded eight album including one live at the rate/rhythm of almost one per annum.

Anecdotes

  • For the composition of the songs, Mike Dunford wrote the music then sent all the sheets by the post office to the écrivaine Betty Thatcher which dealt with writing the words and thus the majority of the songs of Renaissance were written!
  • Renaissance was accustomed to playing with a symphony orchestra between the years 1973 and 1978.

  • the group of 1973 did not contain any more any of the five founding members.
