Rear Erwan Moal

Erwan Ar Moal , for the registry office Yves Moal , is a Breton writer born the February 9th 1874 with Coadout (department of the Coast-with Armor) and deceased in the same commune the February 14th 1957.

Resulting from a country medium, he learns the French only starting from age the six years. He is pupil of the Notre-Dame college of Guingamp, then there enter to the great seminar of Saint-Brieuc in 1894, he remains there two years without reaching priesthood. It becomes teaching and starts a literary career in 1902 with the publication of a collection of tales, Pipi gonto . Poet Breton and Breton nant, member of Gorsedd of Brittany under the name of bard Dir-Na-dor (steel which does not break), he is the writer with Auguste Bocher of Breiz (newspaper): catholic weekly newspaper which was printed of 1927 until 1939.

Since 1933 and 1934 he will guess and denounce with force in his newspaper of Breton language Breiz the diabolic character, inhuman and anti-Christian of the new mode German national-Socialist.

Erwan Ar Moal, Goulven Mazéas, Maurice Duhamel and their comrades unknown (like the mechanic Rouzic of " War Zao " with Guingamp and his/her comrades remained anonymous) belonged to the Résistance.

Erwan Ar Moal also makes appear many poetries in the Breton review Feiz ha Breiz .

In 1938, it will condemn once again the Fascisme and the National-socialisme in an article which appears in Breiz . It compares these ideologies with a plague.
