Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando

The Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (royal Academy of the Art schools San Fernando) was created in 1752, with its seat with Madrid. Its origins are in relation to the Age of Enlightenment. Its first statutes were approved in 1744, but its final constitution goes back to 1752, with King Ferdinand VI, which called it: Real Academia of mow Very Noble Artes de San Fernando . At the beginning, its activities related to the fields of the Peinture, Architecture and Sculpture. In 1873 it received its current denomination and it opened a new section of Musique.

Two reforms were concluded: at the time of the first (1987), one changed to 51 the number of the titular academicians and one integrated the Télévision, the Photographie, the Vidéo and the Cinéma with the section of the Sculpture, which is called from now on Section of the Sculpture and Arts of the Image ; the second reform (1996) changes to 52 the number of the titular academicians.

During all its history, the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando occupied in Madrid three distinct seats. Currently it is installed in the Palate Goyeneche (Alcalá Hold, 13). With the architect Fernando Chueca Goitia in 1972 was completed the replanning of the building.
