A reaction engine is a Moteur resting on the projection of a Gaz or a Liquide producing a Poussée. Projection creates a force in shifted reaction of 180°, this force is named thorough.

Types

In the case more running, the expelled gas is the result of a reaction controlled Chimique producing a gas at high temperature, which while slackening in the engine, acquires an high speed (more speed is important plus the push is strong).

In a general way one can separate this type of motorization in three categories:

Air breathing engine

The engines Aérobie S use the Oxygène Air like Comburant or Oxydant in a chemical reaction, they can be used only in the terrestrial atmosphere. In this category one finds:

Anaerobic engine

The engines Anaérobie S carry the combustive one and the Carburant of the chemical reaction, that thus enables them to be able to function apart from any atmosphere. In this category appears:
  • the engines with solid fuel, Powder booster used in the Booster rocket of certain rockets
  • the engines with liquid fuel, Rocket engine, used as its name indicates it in the rockets, but also in the Missile S, launchers space as well as the satellites and some of the space probes

Nonchemical engine

Other engines use a nonchemical reaction for the production of the push. Their power remains often modest, but thanks to low fuel consumption, they very get a constant acceleration of long life (thus allowing to reach high speeds after long a Accélération). They are used for the propulsion of probes or interplanetary vehicles.
