Re-ac-tor

Re-ac-tor is a Rock album of Neil Young and Crazy Horse.
He suffers from a rather bad reputation and can be regarded as a minor album in the discography of Young. It is a disc of rough rock'n'roll, without ornaments with the sound Lo-fi and of a spirit Punk. Young pushes like never Crazy horse in his last cuttings off live and rough of sound. One will be able to find this sonic incandescence later on Greendale (2003).

There are some errors of taste, in particular the choruses in " Star" opera; and voices in " Rapid Transit" .
" Re-ac-tor" is related to one period when Neil Young took retreat with the music for better devoting itself to her second wire handicapped. It also corresponds to its support for Ronald Reagan of which he will never be explained very clearly. Pieces like " Southern pacific " who evokes the epopee of the rail in the United States, are hypnotic, like often at Young. To note beautiful flights of guitar on " T-Bone ".

The album ends in " Shots " : nearly eight minutes of one corrosion to the heavy weapon, apocalyptic and devastating, whose distortions, explosions and bombardments in any kind constitute a with dimensions avant-gardist and visionary. This music will allow the emergence of groups like Sonic Youth, Pearl Jam or Nirvana.

Small pocket of the album

Very sober with red triangle on bottom noir.
On the back one can read a Latin prayer:

" Deus, gave mihi serenitatem accipere LMBO quae not possum, fortitudinem mutare LMBO quae possum, atque sapientiam differentiam cognoseere."

" God, grants to me serenity to accept the idea that I cannot all change, the force to change what is possible for me and wisdom to accept the difference. "
Prayer of Serenity (Reinhold Niebuhr - 1932) registered without another comment. One can however think that there is a relationship with the birth of its second wire, Ben, who suffers from a very serious cerebral paralysis.

Quotation

" - The sound of the album Re-ac-tor is primitive, brutal.

- We should have spent more time in studio. This disc suffered from the mode which our small family had asserted. During one year and half, we devoted ourselves to my Ben son, between fifteen and eighteen hours per day. That belonged to a program to try to solve its handicap moteur."
