Razor of Hanlon
The law of the razor of Hanlon is stated as follows:
“Never allot to the malignity what can be explained simply by stupidity. ”
From its form and its contents, the razor of Hanlon is often presented like corollary to the Loi of Finagle and is associated with the Loi of Murphy.
The origin of this law is discussed enough. Indeed, it would seem that William James wrote such a Aphorisme. Others allot it to Napoleon Bonaparte or Robert Heinlein.
The reference to Hanlon would come from a treating work of the laws of Murphy, of a certain Robert J. Hanlon.
