A very old tradition wants that the day before the Bataille of Poitiers, in 732, the Sarrazins came to camp in Razines with their horses, attracted by the abundance and the purity of waters running which spouted out there a little everywhere. They would have baptized the place “Close-cropped el-Ain” , the “country of the sources”, which would have given us “Razines”. As of the 12th century in any case, Razines appears in the cartulaire of the abbey of the Walnut trees under the name of “ecclesia Beata Maria de Razina” . On this document it appears that in 1106, some Adémar de Granier, resident of Faye-the-Vinous of which raised, as stronghold, the territory of Razines, made gift of the integrality of its rights on the church of Razines just built, with the abbey of Walnut trees. Razines was one of the strongholds of Faye-the-Vinous lasting of the centuries. Razines is attached today to the ecclesiastical Province of Turns.Administration
The current mayor of Razine is Cécile Giraudet, and the municipal council is composed of eleven advisers and advisers. Razines belongs to the diocese of Tours and the canton of Richelieu. If Razines has today its church, its presbytery, its town hall and its school, it was not always the case: in the middle of the 19th Razines century did not have any more these buildings, and was intended to die. Indeed, in 1860, the prefect of Indre-et-Loire estimated that Razines was well too poor to still profit from the statute of commune, and decided that communal space was to be divided into three and attached to the common neighbors. To save the village, one of the fellow-citizens, the doctor Paulin Archimbault, made build with its expenses a church, a presbytery as well as a school. The remainder of the villagois offered a town hall to the commune. And thus in 1861, the commune was saved. The church continues still today to organize masses, known as by the priest of village of Braslou. The school accommodates the second years of nursery school of the five villages around, that of Jaulnay, the first years, and that of Braslou, the third years. The old grocer of the street of the Cellars is closed since 1998, the only trade remaining on the commune of Razines being now the inn of the place. The agricultural main activities on the commune are the intensive culture of melon and cereals, and the vine growing.Demography
